Swiss Days

We have lived in Santa Clara for over 6 years now.
This is our home.
Our little town celebration is Swiss Days and we look forward to it every year.
The Swiss Pioneers settled our pretty little town.
This confused Gwyn and today she asked Bob and I "What did we do so that the Swiss had to come and settle us down?"
So this year Gwyn and Gil participated in Swiss Miss and Swiss Mister...
My mom is truly amazing and sewed this little number up a couple weeks ago for Gwyn.
This is going to be picture over load....this is for you mom!

_MG_0517

I made the flower head piece to match this adorable dress.

Gil is wearing some Lederhosen his Papa Lyle brought home from his mission in Germany over 40 years ago.

There are pictures of Bob wearing them some where at his parents house.

You can't get more authentic than that.

This is Gwyn pose to show Nannie her dress.

_MG_0425

My friend Jessica helped me with her hair. She is crazy amazing with hair you should check out her hair blog.

_MG_0455

Gwyn and Piper are friends....better yet Andrea and I are friends.

We both have only one daughter and MANY sons.

So we tend to find really girly things to do with our daughters:)

_MG_0437

I want to go and pick Gil up and smoosh him something fierce in this picture.

He is an AWESOME sport to agree to do this.

_MG_0452

So opening ceremony of Swiss Days the Santa Clara elementary choir sang and their drum corp. performed.

Both of my boys are in choir and drum corp.

Actually, Tucker is the President of the Cougar Choir.

_MG_0460

Abe's first year in drum corp.

_MG_0463

Right after the choir the Swiss Miss and only Swiss Mister were announced and paraded on to stage.

This is a picture of all the kids who participated.

(Gil's a champ!)

_MG_0477

On stage....

IMG_0490

Saturday morning we were up bright and early for the parade.

Gwyn and Gil were in for the Swiss Miss and Mister.

Tucker was in it for year book.

Abe was in it for Student Council, he is actually the Vice President of the elementary school.

(Who knows why my boys are so ambitious. That is a totally different post.)

_MG_0500

I'm not going to lie, we think having kids is so fun, especially when they are so cool.

_MG_0503

A few last minute poses.

I convinced Gil that he had to do a little dance that involved hands on hips and heels touching out in front of him.

( I will be really sad when he stops just doing what we tell him.)

_MG_0505

I can't get over him in Lederhosen.

_MG_0511

Getting ready for the parade to start.

_MG_0525

Sully was cheering them on....

_MG_0533

The two littles were in the beginning of the parade.

_MG_0536

We ended up being on the wrong side.

So I dashed over to snap a few shots of them.

_MG_0542

Then we had a really long wait for the boys.

So I took pictures of Bob while we waited....

_MG_0548

and of Gil while he told me about all the horse poop on the road...

_MG_0557

and of the Lamoreaux, Reid, and Higgins children gathering candy.....

_MG_0565

and of Sully smiling and talking to daddy.....

_MG_0564

Until finally we saw them coming.

_MG_0569

And then I got HORRID pictures of them.

_MG_0570

_MG_0584

After they skated past we gathered up our stuff and drove very quickly, trying not to break the law to 3 different soccer games.

Poor Gil had to miss his.

So there you have it, Swiss Days in a very long post.

Hope you enjoyed it...

*Thanks mom for making Gwyn the dress. We love it and she felt so pretty in it.

Cheering

Gwyn got to do a few days of a cheer clinic put on by Snow Canyon High School cheerleaders.
She really liked it.
Last Friday night she performed at half time.
She thinks it's really sad I was not a cheerleader.
She blames it on Nannie.....
and I let her.

_MG_0355

But it's all good because my sisters were all cheerleaders....
One more reason she thinks they all walk on water.

_MG_0358

I have a bunch of candid pictures so that you don't think her life is lived in only poses.

_MG_0364

In this picture I can see she is only 5 years old.
I like it.

_MG_0366

As you can see she was the only girl who thought that a cheer clinic would be fun.
She sat and performed by her friend Adde.

_MG_0369

Getting ready to walk on to the field.

_MG_0371

It was fun to go to a High school Football game.

*Sully didn't think it was all that fun though.

Dixie Round-up

On Saturday night Bob and I took the 3 youngest and went to the local Rodeo.
We L.O.V.E a little Rodeo.
We missed Strawberry days this year due to Mr. Sully's birth, so we thought we would give this one a try.
Loved the arena.
We had great seats, and best of all Gil and Gwyn were completely enthralled.
They were so well behaved.
Gil about flipped his top when he realized he could have been signed up for a little Mutton Bustin'.
Next year for sure
.
_MG_0391
p.s. The big boys were gone to the Scouting 100 years celebration.
They were gone from 2-10pm and had a fantastic time.
Swords and Shields are a new past time at our house.
Who knew they would learn a little sword fighting while at scouts?

Lamoreaux Mascot

This is the Lamoreaux Soccer Mascot.....
He goes by Sulls, Sully, Chubba, Sulliman, and whatever else we deem appropriate.
We find those thighs very edible. Gwyn and I discuss hourly what part of him we would like to nibble on.....

_MG_0385

He cheers on 4 soccer games every Saturday.

_MG_0388

He is for hire....

_MG_0384

Oh my goodness we like him.

In "Training"

For as long as I can remember Gil has never really loved toys.
His love has always been for anything involving gross motor skills.
Balls have always been a love for him.
So this year after mastering riding a two wheeler, monkey bars, and his scooter, he decided he would try out skate boarding.
_MG_9847
He found Geena's old skateboard in her garage and then he was obsessed.
He asked Bob and I at dinner one night if we would "train" him in Skateboarding.
We both laughed and then Bob explained that he himself could not skateboard.
So Gil tracked down a 15 year old boy in the neighborhood for some "training".

_MG_9848
Alex was kind enough to take an evening of showing Gil the ropes.

_MG_9841

_MG_9842
The fan club cheered him on from the rocking chairs.

_MG_9849

_MG_9851
For his birthday Nannie got him his very own skateboard.
Accompanied by knee, elbow and wrist pads.
Skateboarding as proven to be a little harder to learn....
but no worries, he is still "training."

Let's play catch up.....

These are a few pictures I took of Sully when he was about 5 days old.
Thank goodness my mom was here to help me with this photo shoot.
If you didn't get one of these I am sorry I missed you!

Preschool....

Of all of my children Gil somehow seems really old to just now be starting pre-school.
All the same he finally started.
He was thrilled to go to Miss Debbie's.

_MG_9869

This boy is one social butterfly.

_MG_9865

Gwynnie and Gil are gone at the same time for 2 days a week.
Well at least for an hour that is....

_MG_9860

Gil was glad to be going to school with his buddy Grant D.
They were friends in Utero:)

_MG_9880

Here is my big boy sitting on the rug waiting for a class to begin.

_MG_9895

I like him.

Vote

Abe told me last year that once he was in 4th grade he would be running for Student Council.
So when he brought home is papers already signed by a couple of teachers and wrote his reasons why he would be good for Student Council I had to get on board.
I seriously don't know why my two older boys are such over achievers.
Truly I don't.
I never did any of the things that they want to do.
I honestly don't push them either.
I won't lie that it is really hard to encourage your child to do something that you have no control over the outcome.
I had to keep asking Abe if you would be okay if he didn't win for his class.
He kept telling me he would win, and it was all fine.
They could make one poster and they had to give a speech.
Here are a few of the pictures that I took.

_MG_9900

This is Abe.

_MG_9902

But this....this is REALLY Abe's personality.
He is funny and witty and can sometimes be a little annoying.
(What 9 year old isn't sometimes?)

_MG_9913
With a name like ABRAHAM....you have to use the honest aspect:)
We heard it worked for this other amazing Abraham.
So election day came.
I went to the school to hear his speech.
There were 5 girls and 3 boys running.
There would be 2 people from his class that would join student council.
He did great on his speech, his poster was the best. (Thanks Andrea!)
I was nervous all day for him.
When he came home from school I met him outside and kept asking if he won....he said "wait until we are inside mom" Then as soon as we got in the house he smugly told me, "yeah I won". Bob came around the corner and yelled "you won" then grabbed him up in bear hug and Tucker and I joined in and we smooshed him until he was yelling, "I can't breathe."
It's pretty cool when they win.

This AMAZING boy is 4

_MG_0129

Four AMAZING things about Gil!

1. He embodies happiness....everyone likes Gil, he is the neighborhood Mascot after all.

2. He has crazy coordination.

3. He is so great with his new baby brother. He has a lot of love to offer all of his family. I get told he loves me 20 times a day.

4. He is still here. He is our miracle boy, we feel so lucky and blessed to have him with us everyday. (Although that big noggin seems to get wonked more than anything else on him.)

*5. And one to grow on....he has the biggest, most luscious, kissable lips ever!

Happy Birthday little man!
We love you Gilbert.
